Class Ratings and Policy

Very Beginner - Knows how to use a sewing machine
Confident Beginner - You have done a project or two
Intermediate to advanced - Know it all but want to have some fun
  • 10% discount applies to all supplies used toward a class at Common Threads
  • All purchases made the day of a class are also discounted 10%
  • If classes are postponed or cancelled you will receive a refund or you may apply the tuition toward another class
  • We ask that you cancel a class at least 3 days prior to the scheduled class or forfeit tuition
  • You may sign up for a class by phone or by coming into the shop. You must pay for the class when you sign up.
  • Unless otherwise stated, you will need a sewing machine in good working order and know how to use it.
  • Common Threads has many fine teachers who are willing to do individual classes or convenient classes for your group. Please call to set up a special day.
  • Class samples are displayed in the shop for your viewing pleasure.

Winter and Spring Classes

Beginner Quilt - Learn to cut, piece, press and assemble your first quilt. Two classes. $40.

Comfy Throw - Try this fast easy project and make a perfect throw to cuddle with on the couch. $30.

Ruth McDowell Workshop - Four techniques, four classes. Learn some fun piecing techniques and create an art quilt. You can take all four classes or pick and choose. Single classes $25 each or all four for $50.

Roman Blinds - Spruce up your home with this class. Complete these blinds in just a few hours. $30

Paper Piecing - Learn the accuracy of paper piecing using scraps. A little bit of fabric can go a long way. $30.

Introduction to Silk Painting - Learn the French art of painting on silk. Explore how to mix hues and how to apply the dyes. Create a painting to insert into a wall hanging or pillow-top. No prior knowledge necessary. $30.

Hand Applique - Needle-turn applique is an art in itself. Let Jackie show you the ins and outs. $30.

Kids Club - Can you use a sewing machine? Would you like to learn to sew a few fun projects on your own? Join the kids club. Four weeks of Sunday fun. No parents necessary unless you need a ride. $60.

Turning 20 Again - Learn to make this fast quilt with two different blocks. Come back and talk about hand or machine quilting options. $40.

Introduction to Longarm Machine Quilting - Obtain your license to drive the longarm machine in this two-part class. $150.

Block of the Month - Create a tribute to pioneer women and join in on the Block of the Month Club with this sampler. You can just stop in and pick up your block or stay and learn some history and a technique. You are welcome to pick up your block at other times if the scheduled time doesn’t work for you. Coffee and snack provided if you stay. $7.50 per month plus the book. Quilt in a Day Pioneer Sampler.

Buggy Barn Day - You have a kit and you don’t have the knowledge to do the technique? You always wanted to try a Buggy Barn but were afraid to ask? Let us show you how. Learn the Buggy Barn technique with a project you already have or try something new. Stay and sew once you have the technique down. $30.

Stack and Slice - Create your own personal block by stacking, slicing and rearranging fabrics. Ideas for four different blocks will be done in this free-form class. $30.
